Health Economics for Policy Impact
Health economics is crucial for improving health and socioeconomic outcomes by studying the interactions between individuals, healthcare providers, and clinical settings. The EU’s strategy with Africa focuses on strengthening population health and health systems while promoting health policy processes in the region. The EU-funded HEPI project will leverage the ELIXIR research infrastructure to enhance scientific collaboration between Europe and Africa in health economics. It will establish Health Economics Communities of Practice in East and West Africa, align academic and political infrastructures, lay the foundation for sharing materials, methods, and data between Europe and Africa, and support higher education institutions in training highly skilled professionals proficient in health economics methods.
Pathogen Data Network (PDN)
The mission of the Pathogen Data Network is to enable a world-wide ecosystem of linked data and tools to support research and public health response to infectious diseases and epidemics.
3D-Bioinfo Community Implementation study
The structural Bioinformatics Community (3D-BioInfo) was created in May 2019 to integrate protein structure-based data and tools across Europe and to improve standardisation through better ontologies and benchmarking of methods.
An ELIXIR Interoperability Platform KnowledgeHub

Coordinated by ELIXIR Norway, this initiative involves 11 Norwegian infrastructures and aims to enhance the accessibility and reuse of research data, thus fostering advancements in health and biomedical research.

Data Management for Research in ELIXIR (DATAREX)
The project is to create a knowledge exchange forum and to coordinate the RDM ecosystem, in addition to focus on RDM training and data brokering.
ELIXIR-CONVERGE
Project to promote standardisation of life science data management across Europe via the creation of a dedicated toolkit and an extensive training program.
ELIXIR-EXCELERATE
EXCELERATE funding (2015-2019) will help ELIXIR coordinate and extend national and international data resources to ensure the delivery of world-leading life-science data services. It will support a pan-European training programme, anchored in national infrastructures, to increase bioinformatics capacity and competency. It will also provide efficiencies in management and operation throughout the infrastructure, which is distributed amongst 17 countries.
ELIXIR-EXCELERATE
This project supports data resources to ensure the delivery of world-leading life-science services. It also supports a pan-European training programme to increase bioinformatics capacity and competency.
EOSC-Life
EOSC-Life unites 13 Life Science ESFRI research infrastructures to develop an open, digital, and collaborative space for biological and medical research. ELIXIR Norway contributes by designing and implementing a secure repository for individual participant data from COVID-19 trials, ensuring accessible and reusable data for the European research community.
EOSC4Cancer
Cancer research is extensive, yet the translation of key findings into new diagnostic and treatment innovations is slow. We need to overcome this fragmentation for the benefit of European citizens. Moreover, the introduction of data science and machine learning technologies to assist the analysis of large clinical and molecular datasets requires concerted efforts across different institutions and countries. To facilitate this cooperation, the EU-funded EOSC4Cancer project aims to establish a pan-European infrastructure that integrates cancer research-related data and makes it accessible for analysis across borders. The project will combine data from patient diagnosis to treatment, laying the groundwork for future cancer projects.
EuroScienceGateway
This project leverages a distributed computing network across 13 European countries, thus facilitating access to compute and storage infrastructures across Europe, as well as to data, tools, workflows, and services.
Federated human data
This project aimed to coordinate the delivery of FAIR-compliant metadata standards, interfaces, and reference implementation to support the federated ELIXIR network of human data resources.
Infrastructure Service roadmap: Tools Platform Ecosystem
This project aims at establishing a metadata exchange platform to coordinate the different registries and services maintained by the ELIXIR Tools Platform, using standards such as EDAM, Bioschemas, and biotoolsSchema. Such a platform will make accessible the content aggregated and curated over the years.
Strengthen data management in Galaxy
This project focuses on improving Galaxy's data management features to provide additional provenance information and improve the integration of Galaxy in the existing data management ecosystem.
The Federated EGA framework: supporting sensitive data management across the ELIXIR Nodes
Project to position the Federated EGA (FEGA) framework as the core infrastructure driver to support human data sharing for research use-cases from nationally, European Commission, and/or internationally funded human health data sharing projects.
